The RCN and ZUNO are working in partnership with the goal of strengthening ZUNO to influence nursing policy and improve nursing practice in Zambia as it develops as a professional association. The project will focus on building the capacity of ZUNO to advocate for improved nursing policy and practice at local, district and national level, and will support ZUNO to demonstrate influence on nursing practice at institutional level. As part of this, ZUNO will be leading, with RCN support, a small pilot project at UTH on implementation of the WHO safer surgery checklist. We will take a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that nursing, surgical and anaesthesia staff can work together as a team.
