The “Out to Africa” project links Mid Essex Health Trust (MEHT) with the University Teaching Hospital, Lusaka (UTH) with the aim of direct communication between associated departments on both sides.

This initiative has enjoyed immediate success with the initial visit in March 2010. The MOU signed by both parties established links between departments both medical & non-medical since its development in 2010 both medical and non-medical. These include Public Health, Pathology, Anesthetics and pain management in general and also Radiology.

Fifty computers, with appropriate software, were sent over immediately to facilitate teaching and learning between the linked departments.

We visit at each once a year and apply many ‘Train the Trainer’ programs within our specific areas to ensure sustainability .

Our main source of funding is through our own fundraising. & and our AAA scanning program.  Please go to our web site for more information.

The Partnership is going from strength to strength & long may it continue.

We are also happy to hear from other links also working at UTH.
