Paired Institutional Partnerships
Paired Institutional Partnerships (PIPs) are partnerships between individual institutions or organisations in the UK and their counterparts in low-income countries. The focus for PIPs will be: delivering effective health partnership projects; encouraging reach into under-served and rural areas; and improving health outcomes over a broad thematic and geographical spread.
There will be different levels of funding available (ranging from £15000 to £60000 per year) to suit Medium, Large or Multi-Paired Institutions.
Start-up grants will be available from Jan 2012 - providing up to £5,000 to facilitate the development of new partnerships.
Volunteer Bursaries of up to £15,000 for 12 months, are available to Large and Multi-Paired Institutional Partnership projects to send a member of the UK team to the partner for a minimum of 6 months, as long as that volunteer’s long-term presence will help maximise the project’s impact.
Rounds 1 & 2
- Medium Paired Institutional Partnership grants of up to £15,000 per year for a small-scale clearly defined project. 12 to 24 months of funding.
Round 2
- Large Paired Institutional Partnership grants (including previously announced Multi-PIP grants) - up to £100,000 per year for 12-30 months. These grants are available to single or multiple partnerships between UK institutions and single or multiple low-income country institutions. Projects should be single, time-bound projects where clear outcomes can be achieved within the timeframe proposed and within the budget proposed. Projects should not in any way rely on continuation of funding for their successful implementation.
