About the Link
Link is between the Global Health Institute, Imperial College, London and the Ministries of Education and Health in Rwanda and the National University of Rwanda.
It has developed from a link established in 2007 in Child Health, focussing on neonatology, with teach and training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees and nurses conducted by Dr Tom Lissauer, Consultant Neonatologist, Imperial College Healthcare Trust and other health professionals mainly at the University Hospitals in Butare and Kigali.

Current activities
Current link activities are teaching and training as described above and acting as external examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate examinations in paediatrics.
Plans are underway by the Global health Institute (Director Prof Peter Piot) to establish a Masters programme in Epidemiology and to initiate research studies in chronic diseases.
Additional information
Rwanda has joined the East African Community and the Commonwealth and there is great eagerness to engage with the UK.
