Call for Applications for Round 4 of the Strengthening Surgical Capacity (SSC) Fund Grants.
“The greatest burden of surgically treatable diseases falls on people in developing countries, but the poorest third of people receive only 3.5% of operations and have the lowest numbers of surgeons per head of population” Lancet, 2012
The Strengthening Surgical Capacity (SSC) Fund provides grants for health partnerships between UK health institutions and their counterparts in sub-Saharan Africa working in the field of global surgery and anaesthesia. The aim of the grant scheme is to improve the access to and the quality of surgery linked to maternal and child health through leveraging the skills and expertise of UK health professionals.
The SSC Fund will offer three grants of up to £9,000 for a twelve month project. The fund will support projects that mobilise UK health workers to develop the capacity of health workers in sub-Saharan Africa through skills transfer, training and mentoring and other collaborative work.
