Randi Agbodo is a Psychiatric Nurse working with the Ghana, Upper West Region-Scotland, Inverness partnership. Working to improve health in the Upper West Region of Ghana by focussing on three main clinical areas were identified- accident and emergency, midwifery and mental health.
Randi received training as part of the mental health project that seeks to reduce alcohol health harm in the region. Alcohol is a problem that effects both men and women, young and old. In total 89 participants received training in alcohol awareness, alcohol brief intervention (ABI), ABI in antenatal settings and alcohol dependency and nine Community Psychiatric Nurses were established as the project champions who will be the main players in rolling out the training to other health staff.
As one of these project champions, Randi is playing a key role in delivering project objectives, improving mental health and ensuring project activities continue well into the future.
