Leave a Legacy

A woman in sub-Saharan Africa has a 1 in 22 chance of dying over her lifetime as a result of pregnancy and childbirth.
A child born in one of the least developed countries is nearly 14 times more likely to die within their first 28 days of life than one in an industrialised country, such as the UK.
To many, these facts are simply too depresing to face. They think that there can be no solution to such enormous problems. They turn away. But many others know that the world we live in must be changed. They know that the problems of poverty, disease, and inequality can be solved. Not all at once – but person by person, one community at a time.
This is what our work aims to achieve and by leaving a gift to THET in your Will, you can help some of the world’s poorest communities build a brighter future. Your legacy really can help us to improve essential healthcare for future generations. Download our Legacy Pack for more information.
Our successes over the years have led to a considerable increase in requests from both UK and international partners to develop new Health Links to work in areas of need and also to expand the work of our existing health programmes to address needs on a wider scale.
Though we have been successful in obtaining project-specific grants from institutional donors, such as the Department for International Development and the EU, as a smaller charity we struggle to meet the increasing demands of our core funding to support these programmes.
Core funds are essential to operate our offices and communicate with our overseas partners, so that our programmes can be run effectively and efficiently. Your legacy allows us to respond swiftly with flexibility and independence to the most urgent needs of our international partners. We can also assure you that an amazing 86% of donations go directly to support our programme work overseas.
Making a Will is the only way you can be sure that your wishes will be followed after you pass on. If you don’t make one, part or all of your estate may go to people you never intended to benefit. Not only that, Inheritance Tax legislation means that a substantial part of what you leave behind could go to the State if you don’t prepare properly. By writing a Will, you can make provision for individuals and support causes or institutions that are important to you. As well as monetary donations, bequests can be made in the form of property or other valuables. We recommend you have it drawn up by a solicitor.
