Program Director at CARE International
Allison started out her career as a volunteer in Sudan and the Gambia; she then worked with Christian Aid and Oxfam in Rwanda and Burundi during the post-genocide years from 1995 to 1999. After working regionally with Oxfam she joined CARE USA in 2001. She played a number of roles regionally in East, Central, Southern and West Africa and globally in Rights Based Approaches and Gender Equality. Between 2014 and 2017, Allison took up the role of Program Director with the feminist activist organization Equality Now and as Director of Program Strategy and Gender with Plan International. In September 2017, she re-joined CARE at the Secretariat as Head of Gender Equality and most recently in September 2020, she became Programme Director of CARE International.
Allison is a passionate advocate for social justice and inclusion; she brings to her work a deep commitment for gender equality and to work collectively; she is an expert facilitator with a deep love of people and belief in their potential.
