Professor Judith Ellis OBE

Judith served as Chair of Trustees of THET from 2016-2021. She is a registered adult and childrenā€™s nurse with a PGCE in education and a PhD focused on evaluating the effectiveness of benchmarking to share and thus achieve clinical best practice.

Judith has held many senior posts in clinical practice and leadership including 8 years as the Director of Nursing and Workforce at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. She worked at the Department of Health, England providing a nursing focus for policy work on Quality and Patient Participation and Public Involvement and was Pro Vice Chancellor / Executive Dean for Health and Social Care at London South Bank University where she still holds an Honorary Chair.

For five years Judith was a registrant member of the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council and was interim chair for 6 months in 2012, during which time she had the opportunity to review LMIC approaches to professional regulation and patient safety.

Judith has worked with, and chaired, charities supporting LMIC health service developmentĀ  for over 20 years and retired from her position as CEO of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2018 to concentrate on supporting international workforce development.

In 2019 she was awarded the OBE for Services to the Health Service.
