Nura joined THET in 2014 as their Country Director in Somalia and Somaliland. Nura has training and experience in the fields of education and health and has extensive experience leading health system strengthening programmes in Somaliland with Health and Education background.
Nura has nine years experience working for health and education projects, including networking and collaboration with the health and education programme partners in Somaliland from national level to village levels, including national and local government, teachers, head teachers, health training institutions, Hospitals, MCHs and health posts.
Her previous NGO experience includes time with COOPI, NRC, STIPA and Save the Children International. She has also been involved in designing, planning, implementing and monitoring for projects funded by DFID, EC, ECHO and UNHCR amoungst others.
Samatar started work in Somaliland as a volunteer with national youth organizations and then moved to the commercial sector, where he worked in Administration and Accountancy and afterwards joined THET in 2010. He graduated from the New Generation University in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Global Studies and International Relations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Post-graduate diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Hargeisa.
Samatar is passionate about supporting humanitarian interventions with his operations experience in logistics, finance, human resources and security management and working closely with programme teams and country-level stakeholders.
